Chapter One: The North
“Hey, hey, everybody! The name’s Michel, and I’m the new governor of the North! Pleased to meet ya!”
One day, the new governor visited the village, and, well...he was easygoing, to say the least.
Dant frowned, obviously wondering how someone like this could possibly handle such an important job.
“Um, I’m Luke, the village mayor. Thanks for coming all this way.”
“No need for formalities! I’m just a humble servant of House Arvale, that’s all!” Michel said.
If that were true, he would’ve known I had been kicked out of that household. Still, he was making a point to show me respect—but that didn’t mean I could afford to let my guard down.
According to Dant, Michel came from a poor background. He wasn’t a warrior or noble, but had risen to his post as governor based solely on merit. You could’ve called him a self-made man. He’d been the governor of the West, but had been recently reassigned to the North.
